Heat Management in 40 sq m Offices

A forty-square-metre office in Gangnam with a single cassette AC and one compact miner is a common scenario we assess. The miner rejects roughly 320–380 W continuous depending on model and fan curve. The cassette, rated for the whole floor plate, does not always track miner load hour by hour.

We logged a June afternoon: ambient at desk started at 24.2 °C. After ninety minutes at 0.08 TH/s sustained, desk reading reached 27.1 °C while the thermostat still showed 23 °C setpoint. The mismatch happens because the miner sits outside the thermostat’s direct sensing path.

Practical moves that helped clients:

• Elevate the unit so intake draws cooler floor-layer air, not exhaust recirculation.
• Place a low-speed desk fan to break the hot pocket behind the rack—not pointed at intake, which can confuse fan controllers.
• Schedule hash-intensive tasks for morning blocks when outdoor condenser efficiency is higher.

None of these replace a thermal survey if your lease caps temperature drift or staff comfort complaints are common.
